May EDI workshop

On the 2nd May, another Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) workshop was led by Dr Emma Tallantyre. Emma is a Consultant Neurologist at the University of Wales, Cardiff, with an interest in multiple sclerosis and other neuro-inflammatory diseases.
The session focused on reviewing the demographic data of Analysis Stage 1 participants and exploring strategies to improve engagement with underrepresented groups in both Octopus and clinical research more broadly.
A big thank you goes to everyone who attended and contributed their perspectives on the issue, especially on the use of social media and other community engagement strategies that can broaden our reach.
Key discussion points included:
1. Partnering with established MS organisations to spread the word about Octopus.
2. Developing region-specific media and content to raise awareness about Octopus across different areas of the UK.
3. Encouraging current Octopus participants to share their personal experience with the trial - in fact, if you are a current participant and would like to get involved, please get involved by clicking here.
